And so LinkedIn Stories are happening soon! For many of us, this means more content to think about. Because of LinkedIn’s algorithm, we’re constantly being bombarded with posts some of which are from people we don’t know (ie. friends of colleagues), I’m curious what this will do to the feed. I actually do look forward to seeing LinkedIn Stories and the possibility of seeing content in a more immediate and summarized way.
Now LinkedIn Users, please lets do this right and not ruin LinkedIn. What do I mean by that? Well yes, the functionality will basically be a copy of Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and many other social platforms but it shouldn’t be treated the same way. Remember this is not your Instagram audience and so it would not be a good idea to post the same content on this channel focused on professionals and careers.
I suggest coming up with a content mix that elevates your personal brand and inspires people in your industry. Once you have that and the frequency planned out, use tools that will polish your content and allow you to showcase it both in a creative and professional manner. Here I’m sharing some apps and web tools that will help you take your LinkedIn stories (or any other social platform stories) to the next level:
Story Template Apps & Web Tools
With the majority of social media editing apps, we normally end up paying a monthly plan instead of having a one-time payment. With Unfold, the app itself is free and comes with a few basic templates. This is enough to get you started. If you do like any of their seasonal or premium templates, you only have to pay a one-time fee for them. That’s why this one continues to be my go-to app for Stories!
Canva has a special place in my “work heart”? This app not only can be helpful for creating social media stories but also for designing print and web materials. I’m marking it as a free app because even though you have the option to upgrade, there’s a lot that you can get out of this tool with their free version. Did I mention that this is also a web tool that you can use from your computer? Well it is! So you should definitely check it out.
If you want to take your Stories to your next level by adding animations and dynamic elements, then Mojo is a good option. It’s super easy to use and will make your content stand out by adding movement to your stories.
Similar to Unfold, this app includes both free and paid templates. What sets Unum apart is that this app also helps you edit your Instagram posts and visualize your grid before publishing. For many influences and brands, take pride in having beautiful filters and content and use tools like this one to establish visual consistency.
Similar to Unfold, this app includes dozens of beautiful templates that can be customized to fit your personal brand. It’s worth checking out but unlike the apps mentioned before the subscription costs $4.99/month or $19.99/year. If you are just starting out, I would suggest exploring one of the free apps first.
And so you see, creating beautiful LinkedIn or Instagram Stories is not rocket science. There are many apps out there that can help you take your content up a notch. I suggest you download all the free apps and check out their templates until you find the one that aligns with your Brand Story. Don’t forget to have fun! 🙂
